A recent survey of SOAR partners & broader community members outlined the following strengths and benefits of SOAR. SOAR benefits partner organizations through:

  • Building connections and convening communities
  • Centralizing and sharing information and resources
  • Professional development workshops & trainings
  • Supporting advocacy efforts that benefit children and youth

SOAR increases partner organizations’:

  • Coordination of services with other relevant organizations
  • Ability to provide high-quality, relevant, culturally competent programs

  • Ability to build partnerships with other relevant organizations
  • Providing professional development opportunities to staff

What is an Action Team?
An Action Team is a group focused on work within a specific goal of one of the SOAR Action Agendas.  Action Teams focus on subjects ranging from the importance of nurturing for young children, strengthening mentorship opportunities, helping children get ready to start kindergarten, or supporting connections between schools and after school programs.

How can I get involved?
Since SOAR is a collaborative of groups and stakeholders throughout the community, getting involved in SOAR can be as simple as connecting the work you’re already doing to SOAR so that others are aware of it and it’s seen as part of the larger, systemic picture of what we’re doing for kids in King County.  You can also:

  • Become a Funding Partner of SOAR, help fund the work of coordinating and convening people, resources, and expertise to strengthen supports for young children and youth.
  • Join an Action Team of SOAR, focused on a particular goal of one of our Action Agendas.
  • Join the Partnership Council, the governing body of stakeholders that oversees SOAR.
  • Help raise awareness about SOAR and our Action Agendas.
  • Take on a “recommended action” item from the Action Agenda – make something happen in your community.
