GET INVOLVED

Since 2004, SOAR has been advancing the healthy development of children, youth & families in King County.  We are a community coalition – an alliance of organizations, schools, governments, individuals, business and community leaders, grant makers, parents and faith-based groups – working together to ensure that all children succeed in school and in life. Simply put, we believe there is strength in numbers. Together we are more dynamic, powerful and effective than when we stand alone.

Become a 2012 Funding Partner
For the first time this fall, we will ask you to do a little more – to empower our work in a new and different way. We want you to become a Funding Partner. Your financial investment will help underwrite the operating cost of the coalition but more than that, your contribution will give SOAR leverage – sending a clear message to funders and policy makers alike: our work for children, youth and families matters. We need you

Individual Funding Partners make an annual investment of $25, and Organizations $50 or $100, depending upon budget size, to help underwrite the direct costs associated with convening, connecting and catalyzing this coalition.  But your Funding Partnership means more than that to SOAR.  Simply put, there is strength in numbers. Together we are more dynamic, powerful and effective than when we stand alone.  As Individual and Organization Funding Partners:

  • You’ll add your voice – giving strength to SOAR’s political muscle as we advocate on behalf of children, youth and families.
  • You’ll stand with respected leaders from child development centers to universities, from institutional funders to elected officials as we work together to benefit children and youth.
  • You’ll make special projects – like the Getting School Ready and Early Intervention Teams, King County Youth Development Network, Promotores Outreach and Education Network, Pathways to Partnerships, and the annual Pieces Event – possible.

We need your financial investment to support this coalition. Click here to become a Funding Partner.

Join the Partnership Council
SOAR’s leadership consists of stakeholders and representatives from a wide variety of sectors engaged in helping children and youth succeed.  The Partnership Council provides overall vision, strategic direction and leadership and assists staff in pursuing and securing financial resources. Contact Harla Tumbleson, the Director of SOAR, for more information (harla@childrenandyouth.org or 206-336-6930).

Raise awareness about SOAR & Action Agendas
Action Agendas are workable tools for the community to use.  The more communities, agencies, groups and entities are aware of the Action Agendas, the more useful they will be. SOAR seeks partners to help spread the word about the Action Agendas via presentations, information sharing, distributing copies, or other means.  We welcome your ideas and assistance. For more information, please contact Harla Tumbleson, Director of SOAR, at harla@childrenandyouth.org or (206) 336-6930.

Take action from the Action Agenda– make it happen in your community or agency!
The Action Agenda for School-Age Children and Youth is designed to include community-generated ideas for different sectors to take on to improve the lives of children and youth.  These “recommended actions” are concrete tools for helping children and youth succeed, and included suggestions for which sectors may play a role. Please see the Recommended Actions for more information. To share how you, your organization, or your sector is getting involved and helping school-age children and youth succeed, please contact Kyla Lackie, SOAR Youth Program Manager, at kyla@childrenandyouth.org or (206) 336-6937.
