March 21, 2008 Dear SOAR Partner: Good afternoon. I hope this message finds you well. I am pleased to formally announce the date for the Fourth Annual SOAR Putting the Pieces Together networking event, which will be held at the Tukwila Community Center on Tuesday, June 3, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM. The topic area for this year’s event is “Cultural Relevancy & Our Communities.” King County is a wonderfully diverse community with many outstanding people and programs working effectively with culturally diverse populations. SOAR is a King County partnership effort, and the purpose of the “Pieces” event is to provide a forum for highlighting local programs and networking and partnership building among those of us who work on behalf of the children, youth and families in our community. This year’s event will provide two distinguished key note speakers and over 20 workshops and networking sessions around the topic of cultural competency in working with children, youth and families. A continental breakfast and box lunch will also be provided to event participants. Due to the generous support of United Way of King County, City of Seattle Human Services Department, King County Children and Families Commission, Washington State Department of Early Learning, and Seattle Parks and Recreation, SOAR is able to provide this event at no cost to participants. We will begin registration for the event on April 1, 2008 at www.registerforpieces.org. Registration will close on May 23, but our capacity for this event is limited to 300 participants, so we strongly recommend that you register early. Thank you for all the work that you do on behalf of our community’s children, youth and families, and I hope to see you at the Tukwila Community Center on June 3. Sincerely, Harla Tumbleson Director of SOAR Download: Save the Date Call for Presenters |
