SOAR’s Community Outreach & Education projects work to assure that parents are knowledgeable about child development, aware of and equipped to fulfill the important role they play in supporting their child to be healthy and ready for school, and to understand and access available support and services.
The Community Outreach & Education projects include: Early Intervention Action Team ( a list of Early Intervention Provider Referrals in King County), “Love.Talk.Play.” Campaign, and the Local Hazardous Waste Management Project, which focuses on limiting young children’s exposure to chemicals in the home environment. These projects help to support families and their young children and connect them to resources.
Being culturally and linguistically competent is one of the values that shape the Community & Outreach Education projects. Using a cultural and linguistic lens supports all families in our community. In order to reach families effectively SOAR works to train and support bilingual/bicultural community liaisons known as Promotores/Liaisons to provide outreach, education, and advocacy to their respective communities.
The Community Outreach and Education projects are grounded in the King County Early Learning and School Readiness Action Agenda’s countywide goals.
