SOAR offers trainings on the Multicultural Youth Leadership curriculum. Our trainings are available in the King County area. Please contact us if you live elsewhere and would like to contract with SOAR to bring a Multicultural Youth Leadership training to your area. While training in the curriculum is not essential for using it, participants have found the hands-on nature of the training extremely beneficial in developing their understanding of the curriculum, envisioning carrying out the activities, and planning how to incorporate the curriculum into their unique programs.
Click here for more information about the upcoming training on July 1, 2010.

SOAR provides the following two trainings:
Multicultural Youth Leadership Curriculum Training
Multicultural Youth Leadership increases knowledge of culture, self-awareness, and leadership skills among participants in a way that honors their respective communities. In this full-day training, we will experience the curriculum first-hand, participate in the activities, and reflect on how best to facilitate these activities with youth. We discuss the implications of using this curriculum with youth, and brainstorm ways to incorporate it into our own programs.
Multicultural Youth Leadership Training of Trainers
Prerequisite: Multicultural Youth Leadership Curriculum Training
This training of trainers is a unique opportunity for program directors, trainers and other staff who provide training to program staff. If you are in King County, you will become eligible to be a co-trainer on the curriculum with SOAR. You will learn how to train fellow staff members, providers and programs on using the Multicultural Youth Leadership curriculum.
After having previously completed the full-day session on the Multicultural Youth Leadership curriculum, you will participate in an interactive workshop addressing the logistics of training staff on using this curriculum. We will discuss experiences from the curriculum training, and reflect on facilitation methods with adults as opposed to youth. We will learn techniques for helping participants reflect on how they will apply the curriculum to their program, while also ensuring they experience the activities in a clear and engaging manner. The goal is for you to leave confident that you can train others to use this curriculum effectively, respectfully and confidently. |
